Given the trend toward limited production of a diverse range of models, shortened product life cycle, and high responsiveness to customers, issues related to recognitive core vs. non-core operations in internal vs. external environments are crucial in production systems planning. This work focuses on the relationship between capacity planning and suppliers with a specific focus on quantity allocation, manufacturing quantity, purchasing discount, and lead time. Using the fuzzy multiple goal programming approach, this work develops models for dealing the relative cost-effectiveness of different factors. The proposed models are examined via fuzzy analysis of its application to a case with variable characteristics.
