For this reason, the promotion of humanism in the contemporary should be continuously emphasized. Artistic creations based on this viewpoint not only can easily touch the depth of human heart, but they can also purify our minds and do their sacrifice to the humanity. Picasso’s Guernica (See Picture 4-58) is representative. The public always hold the position that war paintings with humanism such as Guernica and the like are sure to have some connection with politics, yet Picasso stated that political thoughts and arts were two totally different things. He wanted to draw a clear line between arts and politics on the one hand; he also put an emphasis on the functions of arts on politics on the other hand. Going through the traumas of World War I and II, Picasso saw his drastic change on political attitude. His confrontations and his drastic change on attitudinal transitions during this time prompt the researchers to further investigate works of humanism by this all-time genius. Sticking to the main purpose of this study, we’ve sampled the following findings: 1.In the part of creation background. We’ve found that in addition to Picasso’s characteristic features, his family members, friends and artists before him, and the inter-influence of the society he was living in had made him put great emphasis on humanism, which can be persistently detected in all the works of his creating stages. 2.In the part of creation ideals. One of Picasso’s ideals in his life of creation was to fight against traditional mainstream value and seek self-upgrading, so as to create various artistic works. 3.In the part of subject classifications, contents, forms and styles. Though Picasso’s painting styles were ever-changing, with the seven design icons serving as an integrating manifestation of humanism, he focused more on disclosing the dark sides of politics and the society, not paying due attention to positive subjects. In addition, he occasionally put too much emphasis on forms, making certain works too realistic 4.Finally in the part of his influence on the subsequent generations. He passed on his condemnations of violence and rapture in fascination by peace. With his complicated origins in cultural heredity, his physiologically strong inclination toward art as well as unsurpassable talent, influences from other artistic forms, and his political beliefs, Picasso internalized all the above as his specific styles, proving that he was qualified to be called one of the top artists in the 20th century. To the end of his life, Picasso equaled to his art, which is what makes him great.
