| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 體育學系 === 98 === The purpose of the study was to investigate three elements of the primary school basketball player at Tainan city. (a) The current sports participation motive and social support condition. (b) The difference between the sports participation motive and social support of the varied demographic primary school basketball players. (c) The correlation between the sports participation motive and social support. The questionnaire survey was conducted for this study. The questionnaire included: (a) Personal data; (b) Sports participation motive inventory; (c) Social support inventory. The sample of the study was 238 basketball players, from 14 primary school, The comprehensive survey was administered, 229 questionnaires were returned. The returned rate was 96%. Descriptive statistics, independent sample T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment correlation, and stepwise multiple regression were computed for data analysis. The results indicated that (a) The sports participation motive and social support of Primary school basketball players in Tainan city were moderately high; (b) The significant differences were found on sports participation motive by the grade in school, beginning year to play basketball, mother’s education level of primary school basketball players in Tainan city; (c) The significant differences were found on social support by the grade in school, basketball age, competition level of primary school basketball players in Tainan city. (d) The correlation between the sports participation motive and social support of primary school basketball players in Tainan city were positive; (e) Teammate support can predict sports participation motive effectively.
