The study adopted the methods of survey research, and the instruments used in this research included subject demographic information, Separation-Individuation Scale, Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment, and Life Adjustment Questionnaire. The participants of the study were 1248 1st and 2nd grade junior high school students in Kaoshiung county and city, Taiwan. The collected data were analyzed for means, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple stepwise regression. The main findings of the study are as follows: 1. The junior high school students have high level of life adjustment.They score highest on personnal adjustment and lowest on school adjustment. 2. The junior high school students have low level of self-admiration,engulfment anxiety,separation anxiety,and rejection domination. 3. The junior high school students have middle to high level of quality of attachment. 4. The 1st grade students have higher level on some perspectives of separation-individuation,better performances on some perspectives of quality of attachment and on life adjustment than the 2nd grade students. 5. Female students have higher level on separation anxiety than male students and better performances on some perspectives of the quality of attachment than male students. 6、The junior high school students with higher scores on every perspective of Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment have better performances on every perspective of Separation-Individuation Scale and Life Adjustment Questionnaire, and the junior high school students with higher scores on every perspective of Separation-Individuation Scale have better performances on every perspective of Life Adjustment Questionnaire. 7、The life adjustment of the junior high school students is affected by the interaction between engulfment anxiety and attachment quality with the peer, and so is between rejection domination and attachment quality with the peer. 8、The persepective “trust” of the attachment quality with the mother is the best predictor to personal adjustment. The rejection domination is the best predictor to the adjustment in the family.
