The researcher conducted a study of “love killing” behavior. The subjects included four male criminals who were sentenced to death. An additional female criminal was also involved. The qualitative method was applied with the following steps: taking in-depth interviews, analyzing the data with the technique of phenomenology, and reporting the conclusions of the discussion regarding the topic: life value of love killers on love experiences.
The major findings were summarized as followed. Firstly, the violent behaviors could be taken into six stages: denial, clarification, reluctance, anger, vengeance, and action.
Secondly, all the five subjects expected to show their men power. In addition, they combined their mix feelings with anger; as a result, they used violence to solve their anger. Thirdly, the results of interviews indicated their cognition, ideas, personality, and behaviors were easily misled due to the lack of self-confidence, frustration, human interaction, and peer support. Under the weak life environment, they eventually used violence to solve their conflicts.
Based on the findings mentioned above, several suggestions could be provided. (1) carry out the life education thoroughly, (2) pay attention to the impact of “love killing” behaviors on our society, (3) increase the concepts for equality of gender, (4) develop appropriate love relationship.
