The dissertation discussed the transformation process of Taiwanese identity from Taiwanese history; focusing on Taiwanese literature and arts. It also discussed the re-lationship in Taiwan’s transformative identity based on Said’s post-colonial discourse on the knowledge-power relationship. It also exposed the violence of the colonizers construction of epistemology and explained how knowledge-power influenced Tai-wanese transformation identity in post-colonial discourse. In this dissertation on Tai-wanese history and arts discourse and national identity, it connected immigration, colonization, re-colonization, the declaration of martial law and globalization. After showing the relationship between national identity and colonial discourse and theory research knowledge organization, it identified the connotations constructed by con-sciousness through Taiwanese written discourse. This was done to explain know knowledge-power constructed Taiwanese identity. Knowledge-power narrated the identification model in Taiwan and Taiwanese identity was constructed by knowl-edge-power. The construction model was increased gradually by imperialists, coloni-alists, autocrats and nationalists. This has contributed to the idea of the oppressed “other”, and still affects Taiwanese identity.
