Summary: | 碩士 === 高雄師範大學 === 工業科技教育學系 === 98 === This study aims to discuss the formation and change of water saving concept for elementary school students and their family members at different stages during their participation in a water saving creativity competition. The contents of this study include water consumption habit in family’s daily life, their knowledge about water resources in Taiwan region, and their thoughts and application of issues related to water saving equipment so as to understand the correlation between competition activity and knowledge construction. In order to find out how participants change their concept, a conceptual analysis of the contents of interviews was conducted as one of the bases of assessment. Those contents from interviewees’ comprehension particularly presented in their interpretation, making examples, categorization, conclusion, reasoning, comparison and explanation are served as target for the analysis.
The research results are summarized as follows:
1.Participants perform better in “procedures for water use” in their overall cognitive concepts and water saving issues. However, they lack comprehensive considerations and understanding in “environmental issues.”
2.In terms of participants’ understanding of water saving, their knowledge is more restricted to daily utensils. After the activity, they broaden and deepen their understanding in “approaches” and “procedures” as well as the technology fields. Their statements also move from “exemplifying” and “comparing” to “interpreting,” “analysis,” and “explaining.”
3.Parents should assist children rather than taking the leading role in family activities. Family members are mutual influential to one another and often learn together.
