Accordingly, understanding the trend in innovation of data processing regarding inventory management is critical to business competiveness. Especially through the patent analysis of this technology, objective and reliable knowledge can prevent enterprises from the risks of plagiarism and tort. Moreover, the patent analysis can also be regarded as an important reference for research and development for further technique improvement or systems purchase. This study is to investigate the technology of data processing regarding inventory management in business category (705/28) from the data source of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). We started with the trend analysis of patent indicators and found out that the data processing patents regarding inventory management is a mature technique. Furthermore, 63 core patents and their connection diagram were discovered through the data mining methods of patent strength and patent citation. The cluster analysis was finally applied to investigate the main scheme of patent techniques, and the result indicates that the core techniques in inventory management data processing are classified into two main categories which are inventory management system and electrical tag inventory monitoring system.
