Future development potential for this industry is extremely high. Comparing and evaluating the performance of various regional offices of a home-delivery service operator could help the operator understand its strength and weakness in a competitive market. This research employs the DEA technique to investigate the operating efficiency of various offices of the Takkyubin (a Japan-oriented home-delivery company managed by the Yamato Transport) in Taiwan. Operating efficiency of twenty six metropolitan offices, seventeen mixed offices, nineteen township offices, and five key-clients oriented offices are studied. Finally a group of operating efficiency index is concluded as a benchmark for the home-delivery service industry operators.
