碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 風險管理與保險所 === 98 === The Postal Simple Life Insurance had been published by the CPC（Chunghwa Post Co.,Ltd）for long time ago. It also plays an important role in Taiwan insurance industry. Recently, after experiencing the privatization process, the inner operation of CPC has become more efficient. The purpose of this study is to compare the difference between the Postal Simple Life Insurance and other Life Insurance in Taiwan. This research applies paired t test, goodness of fit test, and regression analysis to compare the performance on business such as new policies ratio, policies in force by age, causes of claims and the performance on finance such as net earning ratio of investment portfolios between Postal Simple Life Insurance and other Life Insurance in Taiwan from 1997 to 2008. The empirical results show that: The Postal Simple Life Insurance was significantly better than other insurance in Taiwan on new policies ratio. The Postal Simple Life Insurance was significant different from other insurance in Taiwan on both policies in force by age and causes of claims. On net earning ratio of investment portfolios, the Postal Simple Life Insurance and other insurance in Taiwan shows no difference; meanwhile, the investment performance makes a loss on stocks, loan to policy-holders, and foreign investment. Therefore, we suggest that more attention on investment risk should be paid. The empirical results also show that the privatization process has positive effects on operational and financial performances of CPC.
