Summary: | 碩士 === 國立宜蘭大學 === 資訊工程研究所碩士班 === 98 === The widespread availability of mobile devices such as smart phones and laptops has led the door to an increasing use of Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) in our daily life applications. In MANETs, because of the absence of a fixed infrastructure, nodes are required to cooperate in the data routing and forwarding.
In most on-demands routing protocols, nodes are assumed to be trusted, however this assumption is not realistic since there may be selfish or malicious nodes with the intend to damage the normal network operations. Some of the current solutions to deal with malicious node activities in MANETs are based on public key infrastructure, but with the requirement that there must be a third trusted party who acts as a registrar clearance, without assurance that nodes will normally cooperate. Other types of solutions promote the use of trust-based mechanisms, but with the added complexity that these methods are computationally expensive and more often result in extensive overhead.
In this thesis, we propose an approach for message security in MANETs, using a trust-based AOMDV routing protocol. The efficiency of our proposed solution is established by simulation using ns2. It is shown how the proposed solution behaves in case of blackhole attacks with or without the added trust mechanism. It is also shown how our proposed solution is much more secured than the AOMDV protocol.
