Summary:碩士 === 國立宜蘭大學 === 化學工程與材料工程學系碩士班 === 98 === The purpose of this study is applying the heterogeneous catalyst through the transesterification to produce biodiesel. The heterogeneous catalyst used in this study is the Basic Oxygen Furnace slag (BOF slag) which is provided by Chinasteel Company. The reaction is carried out in the batch-type reactor. The reaction conditions studied in the batch type reaction include reaction temperature, reaction time, and the reaction pressure, catalyst amount. This study also employed with X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET), to analyze the BOF slag prior and after the reactions. The conversion efficiency along the acid value, iodine value, kinematic viscosity, density, and heating value of the transferred biodiesel were measured. The results show that properties have the better conversion efficiency with longer reaction time, higher reaction temperature, and higher reaction pressure. This study also shows that the required temperature for the transesterification with BOF slag is higher than those using traditional homogeneous base catalyst.
