In this study, the author serves as the counselor to conduct counseling in an individual case of which the object is a female student from a comprehensive high school. The counselor conducted six 50-minute counseling sessions using the tarot as the medium in as many weeks at the school’s counseling room. In addition, an interview with the object was carried out ten minutes after the first, third and sixth session in a bid to further collect data concerning her feelings, her relationship with the counselor, and her ensuing transformation.
The findings are as follows:
1. The influence of using the tarot as the medium on the counseling relationship perceived by the object comprises the aspects of being conducive to the counselor and the object’s setting their common goals, being conducive to enabling the object to accept the responsibility of transformation, and being conducive to building positive emotional links in the counseling relationship.
2. The influence of using the tarot as the medium on conversational feelings comprises the aspects of increasing the object’s acceptance of counseling, helping the object figure out the problem and find the solution, and reinforcing the object’s volition to share her experience.
3. The influence of using the tarot as the medium on her ensuing transformation comprises the aspects of the object being able to perceive her own state, the object having the courage to organize her past incidents, and the object discovering her future momentum and goals.
