The samples are fifth and sixth graders from Taoyuan and Hsinchu county. There were 724 questionnaires were collected. They completed the Body image scale and the Peers and Parents’ evaluation Questionnaire. The major findings in this study were as follow: 1. There were 41 5-points scale items in the body image scale. The subscale’s α coefficient between .63 to .89, test-retest reliability between .68 to .86. The reliability and validity of the body image scale were quite well. 2. The body image for children is median and positive. 3. Most children had normal range of BMI, but the boys are overweight and fat than girls. 4. The girls care about their appearance, and the boys care about their fitness. The fifth graders care about appearance and health than sixth graders. The overweight students had positive body image than others. The higher SES also had positive appearance evaluation and care about their health. 5. The “health evaluation” and “peer’s evaluation” within the perception toward peers and parents had positive correlation with the “health orientation” and “appearance evaluation” within the body image scale. 6. Overall BMI is the best indicator of predictability for body image. 王振世 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 100 zh-TW
