A pretest-posttest nonequivalent-group quasi-experimental design was employed in the study. A total of 84 participants (experimental group =44, control group =40) were recruited from first-grade of the senior high school students in Maio-Li county. The subjects in the experimental group had a gender equality curriculum for 11 weeks, and 50 minutes per week while the subjects in control group did not have such a curriculum. Sex-Role Attitude Scale was adopted as the main measure. A series of independent samples t test and one way ANOVA analysis were conducted to analyze all the collected data. Futhermore, in order to realize the effectiveness of the experimental curriculum, a qualitative analysis was also conducted by using the curriculum feedback questionaires. The major findings of this study are listed as following: 1. The gender equality education curriculum by using reading materials had an immediate effect on senior high school students’ gender-role stereotype. Especially the effectiveness on students’ ability and performance was the most significant. 2. The gender equality education curriculum by using reading materials had a long-term effect on senior high school students’ gender-role stereotype. Especially the effectiveness on students’ ability and performance was the most significant. 3. The students in experimental condition had positive attitudes toward the implementation of gender equality education curriculum. According to our research findings, several implications about the implementation of gender equality education were discussed, and future research was suggested.
