In advance, this study determined the predicability of patient factors and medical factors on medical resource utilization. This is a cross-sectional study by using outpatient prescriptions and treatment of detail file (CD), together with the list of hospital medical expenses file (DD) of "National Health Insurance research database" between 2002 and 2007.The Lung cancer cases were defined as those with underlying diagnostic codes 162 from International Classifi- cation of Diseases Category (ICD-9). The study including patient factors ,medical factors and medical resource utilization were used for data collection. The data were analyzed by the descriptive statistics analysis for distributions of variables and univariate analysis in cluding independent Fisher exact test,Wilcoxon Rank Sum,Kruskall Wallis test for exploring the relationships between variables by using the statistical software SAS (version 9.1).In addition, Multiple Linear Regression analysis was used to identify the predictors of medical resource utilization,as well as the predictability of patient factors and medical factors of medical resource utilization.p<0,05 was the statistically significant level. Major findings were as follows: (1)Age and hospital type were the significantly different for between medical treatment of lung cancer patients. (2) Visits in Western patients with lung cancer, were significant difference of the average length of hospital stay by age, hospitals region. The age and hospital type in the average medical costs of outpatient were the significantly different. Their age and hospital ownership in the average cost of hospitalization were the significantly different.(3)In Traditional Chinese and Western medical treatment of lung cancer patients in gender and hospital type on the average medical costs of outpatient were the significantly different.(4)Visits in Western patients with lung cancer, age and hospital region were the significantly important predictore for the average length of hospital stay .Age and hospital type were the significantly important predictore for the average medical cost of outpatient.Age and hospital ownership costs for the average length of hospital stay were significant predictors.(5)In Traditional Chinese and Western treatment to patients, the gender and hospital type were the significant predictors for the average medical cost of outpatient. The findings will be used as the reference for policymakers of national health care departments and medical institutions when allocating medical resources in the future. We believed that the reasonable and consistent allocation of medical resources can facilitate cancer patients to obtain adequate treatments 王桂芸 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 104 zh-TW
