Summary: | 碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 社會發展學系碩士班 === 98 === In this research, I want to refer to the theme of animation film on the basis of “Hero’s Journey” theory, using the approach of “personality analysis”and Jung’s “Archetype” to discuss the characters of animation films to know how animation films present the story features of their own. Therefore, I start it with Joseph Campbell’s
“Hero’s Journey” theory from his study of Mythology, and then continue with Martin Seligman’s comments on personality analysis and Carl Jung’s “Archetype” to discuss the issue of characters and even apply these theories to the formations of each character. Out of its special attraction, each one of the characters impresses the audience in it’s own way. Besides, the playwrights tend to enrich the characters shared by common people and go further to transfer them to charismatic ones. Since everyone has his/her preferable types of character, it is easier for the playwright to make even better arrangement of theme and the functions of characters and complete the story simultaneously.
Above all, Christopher Vogler also thinks that Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” theory can be used to explain features of story. Except to the use of the approach of“Hero’s Journey,” personality analysis and Jung’s “Archetype,”this research also uses “The Lion King” published by The Walt Disney Company as main material to prove the possibility of the application of “Hero’s Journey.”
