The research adopted the narrative inquiry method, collected data including interviews, observations, documents, and reflective journals. Member checking and triangulation were used to achieve trustworthiness. The research found that Ms Chin’s stepping into the field of kindergarten education was a result of the National College Entrance Examination, i.e. she was admitted to a teachers college, majored in kindergarten education, and became fascinated. There were three reasons behind Ms Chin’s career decision: (1) personal features: children-loving, enthusiastic, earnest, and fond of making plans, (2) positive feedback: supports and approval from the directors and colleagues, trust from parents, and feedback from students, and (3) the kindergarten conditions: ideal location, acceptable salary systems, up-to-date facilities, and similar teaching concepts. Difficulties encountered were: (1) certain conflicts among coworkers, (2) poor communication between parents and teachers, (3) teaching-related problems, (4) complicated work content, (5) easy to be ill, and (6) cannot look after both career and family at the same time. Ms. Chin’s solutions to the above-mentioned difficulties could be mainly categorized as psychological self-adjustment, problem-solving on her own, seeking others’ help, taking inservice education, and requesting administrative assistance from the authority. Lastly, concrete suggestions were made according to the conclusions of the research to kindergarten teachers, kindergartens, and future researchers.
