| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 家庭教育與諮商研究所 === 98 === The purpose of this study was to research the present situation of the personality traits and marital intimacy of couples, discuss the relationships among personality traits and marital intimacy, and the relationship between the differences of couples on basic dimensions of personality traits and marital intimacy. This study adopted snowball sampling and questionnaire survey method on 494（247 pairs）of married couples in Central Taiwan. The research tools were “Self-evaluation Scale of Personality Traits of Chinese” and “Marital Intimacy Inventory (MII) of early adulthood”. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and canonical correlation analysis. The findings are as follows:
1. Married couples had positive personality traits.
2. The status of married couples’ intimacy deflected positive.
3. There was canonical correlation between the personality traits of married person and their marital intimacy.
4. When the couples had similar personality traits or the husband’s personality traits were more positive than their wife, the marital intimacy of the husband was better.
According to the results and conclusions, some suggestions are provided for unmarried to spouse, married couples to get along with, marriage educators to engage in marriage education, and maybe used as a reference for future research.
