碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 家庭教育與諮商研究所(Graduate Institute of Family === 98 === The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of family education and support program in a sample of families with schizophrenic relatives. This study conducted with a quasi-experimental design was planned to test: (1) whether the program is effective in reducing families’ feeling on family pressure and (2) whether the program is effective in improving families’ supportive behavior and attitude. The experiment group receives a 6-weeks and 2-hours-per-week intervention program consisted of psychoeducation, communication skill, caring knowledge, emotional and pressure management, and social support while the control group doesn’t receive any experimental courses. The findings based on statistic outcome, observation and discussion exhibited: (1) there were no significant effect on the improvement of family pressure and family support and (2) families showed low-efficacy in emotional and pressure management which they regarded as necessary and (3) good participation in group and satisfaction with group interaction and learning content.
