Summary:碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 教育科技研究所(Graduate Institute of Educational Tech === 98 === The Study of Game-based Cooperative learning into English Remedial Instruction for Junior School Chung-Yu Lu Graduate Institute of Educational Technology National Chiayi University Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of game-based cooperative learning on teaching the junior students with low English achievement. In 12 weeks experiment period, a quasi experiment of nonequivalent pretest-posttest design was conducted on 3 classes, each contained 30 students. There were three groups which were game-based cooperative group, game-based group and normal group taught with different instructions. Groups were set to fill out the ‘English Sight Reading Test’ and the ‘English Learning Confidence Scale’ before and after the experiment. SPSS was used to compare the English sight reading and English learning confidence of the three groups. Interviews with the students and teachers were also conducted after the experiment. The major findings of the study are as follows: 1. The analyzed results revealed that the students taught with game-based cooperative learning instruction performed better on ‘English Sight Reading Test’ than students taught with normal instruction. 2. The students taught with game-based cooperative learning instruction scored higher on the ‘English Learning Confidence Scale’ than students taught with normal instruction.
