The purposes of this research were to realize substitute teachers’ motivations to choose kindergartens as their career; educational experiences when they were in the universities; experiences of applying permanent positions and their psychological process; career development, and suggestions from their principals and peer teachers’. A qualitative method was applied for this research. Three substitute teachers from the Winling, Chiayi, and Tainan counties were participated in this research. Participants were interviewed with both semi-structured and in-depth interviews. All these interviews were tape-recorded for the further analysis. The results can be interpreted into six themes: Firstly, the motivations for these public kindergarten substitute teachers to choose early childhood education as their career can to concluded into two themes. There were: a. they like kids and like to play with them; and b. like to apply all they have learned from the university. Secondly, public kindergarten substitute teachers’ experiences when they were in universities can be concluded into three themes. They were: a. changing original career and choosing early childhood education; b. being re-preparing themselves, restarting everything again, and struggling for earning the kindergarten teacher’s license. Public kindergarten substitute teachers about applying permanent positions can be concluded into three themes. They were: a. hard and hard to find a job in public kindergarten; b. well prepared for the job and energizing themselves anytime, also; c. waiting for the next appropriate chance. Public kindergarten substitute teachers about their psychological accommodation can be concluded into three themes. They were: a. working nicely with peer teachers; b. being happily for the every new coming day; c. trying hard and any baby can learn from that. Public kindergarten substitute teachers about their career plan can be concluded into three themes. They were: a. Stepping in the same position, everything remaining the same; b. everything will be fine; and Every one could be the number 1. Suggestions for their career plan from principles and peer teachers can be concluded into three themes. They were a. insisting and plan well; predicating the marketing on early childhood education, and learning new professional specialty to expend their lives. Results of this research can be applied for educational authorities and the government when they work on new policies for teachers who have strong ideas to apply for public kindergarten as their careers.
