| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 歷史學研究所 === 98 === The thesis investigated Yue-Jiao Su-Hong’s political career in an aspect concerning women attending politics, and it mainly looked into her career in Province Assembly. In chapter one, it discussed how Ms. Su-Hong appeared on the political stage because of her husband, Dong-Qi Su’s influence. She had been Township Representative, County Councilor and Provincial Assembly member, but she spent the longest time on being Provincial Assembly member. During the period of being a Provincial Assembly member, she especially paid attention to human rights and local caring issues. Since she also cared about other issues, she not only had a broad view of national issues, but participated in the development of Yunlin County.
In chapter two, Lifetime and Political Career, the study described the details of Yue-Jiao Su-Hong’s lifetime, such as her family background, studying process, marriage and political career. Chapter three, Humanism—emphasizing human rights and minorities, discussed how Ms. Su-Hong showed her caring about democracy, human rights, and how she fought for women’s rights and senior welfare.
The fourth chapter, Local Caring—fighting for local interests and development, expounded her policies on agriculture, fishery, forestry, animal husbandry and water resources. Besides, it also described how she promoted the tourism and traffic development in Yunlin County. In the following chapter, Ecological Conservation—advocating environmentally consciousness and questioning No.6 Naphtha Cracking Project, it complimented on her contribution to ecological conservation and explored the pros and cons of No.6 Naphtha Cracking Project.
The last chapter, Conclusion, summarized the study results of Yue-Jiao Su-Hong in Province Assembly, analyzing her focus through her proposals and estimating her historical status.
As a female politician, Yue-Jiao Su-Hong usually showed her strong character in her political lifetime, which enabled her to compete with other male politicians. She saw the trend of the times and raised issues of foresight. Even today, the issues Yue-Jiao Su-Hong addressed are still valuable. As regards female participating in public affairs, recent researches try to discuss from the viewpoints of Feminine Consciousness, instead of the traditional female political history study. The thesis uses Yue-Jiao Su-Hong as a case, to present her initiatives in political field, and hopes to correspond to the study results above.
