The lithium-iron battery is charged by a photovoltaic (PV) cell through a control circuit, and the LED lighting set is automatically turned on/off based on the illumination of environment. In order to achieve environmental protection, low construction cost and optimal performance, recycle materials are used in this investigation, such as the solar cell, the lithium-iron battery and the control circuit, which are all housed in a reflector of the garden light. This lighting set is designed with an appropriate structure to provide a system that is simple to setup and convenient to carry. From the experimental result, we verify the garden light as the lithium-iron battery which is fully charged with a solar cell. While the light can last more than 30 hrs for LED light source of 1 W, it may satisfy the requirement of low illumination for small area in general garden lighting.
