Generally, the research on the isolated phase bus is focused on its structure design and the theory analysis, while rarely gives a thorough research on the point that causes insulation destruction on the isolated phase bus, and even attempts to restrain the insulation destruction. Owing to the global warming and green house effect leading to unusual climate variation, the isolated phase bus is long disposed in such heavy humidity environment that the phenomena of flash over or ground failure eventually occur due to the degradation of the dielectric insulation gradient of the bus. In order to solve above problems, this thesis tries to adopt various dehydrating methods to restrain the insulation destruction on the isolated phase bus, for example, the bus at Jhuolan hydropower plant. After a three-year practical experiment, that the condensed water due to breathing action in a closed container equipped with a temperature controller is eliminated is verified. Furthermore, under high temperature and heavy humidity environment the degradation of the dielectric insulation gradient of the isolated phase bus due to the incursion of water vapor to its surface can be effectively prohibited by using a thermal dehydrating method.
