The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between learning motivation and creativity in junior high school students in Taichung City. There were 600 research subjects of junior high school students in Taichung City. After using the survey instruments, such as the Questionnaire of Learning Motivation Scale and Innovative Behavior Scale. The descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the data.
The results of this study were summarized as follows:
1. There were no significant differences of intrinsic motivation found in different background variables (gender, grade and birth order) of junior high school students.
2. There were significant differences of intrinsic motivation found in the variable of junior high school students’ families’ socioeconomic status.
3. There were no significant differences of extrinsic motivation found in the variable of junior high school students’ gender and families’ socioeconomic status.
4. There were significant differences of extrinsic motivation found in the variable of junior high school students’ grade and birth order.
5. There were no significant differences of creativity found in different background variables (gender, grade and birth order) of junior high school students.
6. There were significant differences of creativity found in the variable of junior high school students’ families’ socioeconomic status.
7. Learning motivation (intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation) can effectively predict junior high school students’ creativity.
Finally, some suggestions for students, parents, teachers and future researcher were proposed according to the results.
