Therefore, the teaching quality has become an increasingly important issue to school authorities. Moreover, in order to leverage outstanding citizens to reach national prosperity, education institutes need to strive for improvement in their teaching quality. This research using a case study of a complete school with the junior high department was chosen to analyze the quality of its coursework in Chinese, English, and mathematics with five dimensions and eighteen overall sub-criteria that could influence the teaching quality from literature reviews by analytic network process (ANP) and decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) methods. This study also intends to seek for the most critical and significant factor(s) that influence the teaching quality of Chinese, English, and mathematics in this particular junior high school. According to ANP method, the results indicated the key factors that influenced the teaching quality in Chinese, English, and mathematics are the student and educational background of the teacher. The sub-factors included learning attitude, teachers’ personality, and the parents’ attitude regarding upbringing their son or daughter. According to DEMATEL method, the results indicated the key factors that influence the teaching quality in the three subjects are the student and the course. The related sub-factors included learning attitude, enthusiasm in teaching, and the interaction between students and teachers. Because DEMATEL method mainly discusses in cause and effect relationship and ANP method solely focuses on the calculation of weights, this study thus combined the two methods to analyze the teaching quality of Chinese, English, and mathematics in this junior high school. The results indicated that the factors influencing the teaching quality of the three subjects are slightly different. Factors that are worthy of improvement consist of background of the teachers and the parents. The sub-criteria included educational background of the parents, location of the school, socioeconomic status of the families, and teaching experience. This study also provides suggestions on these critical factors for continuous improvement.
