The Taiwan government opened the telecommunication up to private enterprise in 1997. Due to the advances made in information technology and networking technologies, the telecommunication user has a large coverage, high speed mobility and nearly universal roaming. Many applications involving various scenarios regarding Digital Convergence have been conducted. Examples include: telecommunication, cable networking, wired TV, digital content, and electronic commerce, have been developed and have become very popular around the world. Generally, telecommunication proprietors are most concerned about two major business issues, which are valued-added services providing and integration of digital convergence. The thesis uses Porter’s industry analysis tool to analysis the competition strategies of recent telecommunications. By the overall environment analysis and the tool of competition analysis, we try to discuss the development and market structure of telecommunication industries. Moreover, we discuss the trend of digital convergence in Taiwan from three areas, including: mobile phone, digital content, and internet protocol television. Conclusions of the presented condition are given as follows, 1.To provide various value-added services. 2.To enhance the market requirement of mobility and broadband. 3.To promote digital convergence and reasonable valuations. 4.To achieve strategic alliance. From analysis result shows, we suggest that the proprietors should adopt the following strategies: 1.To provide different and applied innovations in telecommunication. 2.To use the abundant working experience and advanced techniques to extend overseas market. 3.To integrate industry’s supply chain to create competitive advantage.
