Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立交通大學 === 奈米科技研究所 === 98 === This thesis introduces a method to achieve an electronic paper by polarized particle chains. Different from other electronic paper techniques, the transmittance of a particle solution is modulated to provide dark and bright states by manipulating the suspended neutral or charged particles. Color electronic papers would be obtainable by individually driving of particles with different colors in a single pixel. In this thesis, basic studies of the particle polarization is studied by polystyrene beads dispersed in water and toners in silicone oil. From single pixel and direct driving scheme, a 24x48 pixel panel is fabricated, assembled, packaged, and passively driven. A 50-μm-thick dry photoresist film is used to optimize the device fabrication. In addition, packaging is facilitated by hydrophilic surface treatments.
