The thin film solar cell leads the tendency of development. Therefore, this study provides the analysis of patent portfolio in thin film solar cell field with the information offered by patent technology, investigating some development strategy and suggestion. This study use patent portfolios proposed by Brockhoff (1992) and Ernst (1998), with RGR, RDGR, RPP, and RPA four indicators. As the result, DSSC has the greatest potential. And the numbers of patent grow in Taiwan in recent years gradually towards the direction of development of thin film solar cells.
