Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 教育研究所 === 98 === The purpose of the present study is to understand the relationship among family background, school types, and the employment situation after students graduated from colleges. According to the literature, family background would influence the educational opportunities and achievement of the children, and the graduated school types and prestige would affect the employment situation of the graduate. The data used in this study is from Taiwan Higher Education Database of the 2004 academic year graduates, and the research methods adopted in the study are descriptive analysis, chi-square, and directional measures. The main findings are as follows: 1.There is higher percentage of students from better family background would graduate from the better school types. 2.Students graduated from the better school types would possess the better employment situation (ex. the occupations with higher socio-economic status, the higher wage, and the shorter working-hours per week). 3.Most graduates sought for employment on their own; only few graduates got the help from their colleges and the government. Based on the findings, there are some suggestions for reference concern: 1.Colleges and universities have the power to balance the social inequality, and ought to make effort on connecting school and employment for students. 2.The policies of the government should place more emphasis on helping children from disadvantaged families to obtain equal educational opportunities and on assisting the graduates in attending vocations.
