Surface tension gradient can produce self driving force for droplet movement without external energy. Thus, the interaction between surface tension gradient and droplet in microscale will be an interesting study. The research uses vapor deposition by using Dodecyltrichlorosilane that designs gradient surface. Gradient surface can condense vapor into droplets and move the droplets spontaneously which are found to get a higher heat transfer efficiency. In this study, the surface modification methods are developed for condense chips and verified the chips condensing efficiency by experiments. The experimental results show that the condenser surface with special pattern design can achieve higher efficiency than ordinary surface.
