The flight data analyzed are based on the Flight Operation Quality Assurance (FOQA) system of a domestic airline routed from Taoyuan international airport (RCTP) to Macau international airport (VMMC) with a total of 2416 flight database. The raw data from the FOQA system were converted into engineering format and analyzed by the MATLAB and EXCEL program. Considering the differences of external environment, there were different ways of operation to reduce fuel consumption. In order to analyze these data precisely, each flight was staged into eight phases that included taxi out, takeoff, climbing, cruising, descending, approaching, landing, and taxi in. The highly correlated non-operational factors (weight and wind direction) were used to classify the database, and the trends of the fuel consumptions varying with the changes of the highly correlated operational factors were then used to identify the fuel-saving operation control ranges.
