Namely, cities became the areas of concentrated population and buildings. For each building fire hazard event, it often causes casualties and property losses. Nevertheless, the event of building fire hazard has compiled the major proportion of the fire hazards. This study attempts to examine the factors causing building fire hazards based on the previous records. Factors including type of land use, urban district planning, category of building, floor of building, age of construction, and structure of building are evaluated for this study. Evidence Weighting Model combing with the techniques of Geographic Information System (GIS) were adapted for the study. According to the weighting for degree of fire hazard risk of each factor, with the permutation and combination of factors, the susceptibility mapping for each group of factors can be performed, and the Success Rate Curve for each map was then readily made. Comparison among the areas under the success rate curve (Area Under Curve; AUC), the optimized group of factors can be found to represent the best model for the susceptible building fire hazard. Results of this study have shown that type of land use, category of building, and floor of building are the essential factors to affect the occurrence of fires. By the above-mentioned factors, the area under the success rate curve may reach 74.87% and 81%, respectively, for building fire hazards occurrence in regions with the highest and the middle high susceptibility.
