This study used questionnaires and the projection of personal space and territoriality. Through these two different types of human boundaries to study, investigate seat choice behavior. Different public spaces, people in different situations have different needs and use options, at present the public chair provide single direction of seat mode, limits the user's usage, but also inhibited the needs of the users, result in a different way of sit, if consideration of these design problems will be able to enhance the harmony between people and the seat of the efficiency. This study will be a new seat design of public space.
The results examine the design of public seats, the design of traditional public seating is available only consider personal space and the possible use efficiency, less in the public space should pay attention to the environmental psychology and Universal Design and ergonomics and other three design concepts. In contrast, from the initial design choices, that is, taking into consideration the numbers of uncertain provide public space and high degree of freedom and the simple beauty of the public chair, and meet in public facilities, efficient use of space and seating. This study in-depth psychological perception of the user design the German Red Dot 2007 design award winning the seat, awareness of this new public chair design , the results prove that the suitability for users, and suitable for the design of public space seating mode. Also confirms the personal space and territorial considerations are two different types of human boundaries theory, on the seat design and suitability between the users helpful.
