Summary: | 碩士 === 國立勤益科技大學 === 企業管理系 === 98 === The main task for managers is decision-making and successful decision-making deepens on the logic thinking of decision-makers. In order to understand the actual decision-making behavior of managers, this study uses the thinking aloud of protocol analysis method to obtain the internal decision-implicit making process in the manager's thinking. Objectives of this study are: to understand how managers make decisions and their information needed; to understand the problem-solving capability with different professional backgrounds managers.
The results showed that the type of management decision-making can be summed up; service managers apply intuitive processes with subjective data and heuristics. The results also express that managers will do based on their own experience and habits to make decisions.
The need of information of managers, according to firm size and position class can analyze the senior managers of large-scale firm focusing on a few of important information; small-and-medium-sized enterprise senior managers’ demand of information are more frequent. By industry sectors to analyze the information need of manager, the need of information of service’s managers is more than managers of manufacturing, and emphasis on external environmental information.
Different industries managers have different problem-solving processes, managers of manufacturing are more conservative in thinking and managers of service are more flexible in problem-solving strategies. In addition, expert and novice also have different problem-solving processes, experts can interpret and explain clearly in understanding the problem, but novices occurs conflict of problem contents.
The understanding of manager's decision-making behaviors makes business provide the required management training for new officers’ stand on background field, helps novice improve decision quality and able to learn the decision-making model to reduce the faults and offer ways of decision making.
