Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 國際政治研究所 === 98 === The international relations of East Asia after the cold war demonstrates the startling development. Moreover, with ASEAN’s leading, East Asia has stepped toward integration, which has brought itself to be one of the most significant regions in New Regionalism. However, The ASEAN in fact does not stand in the centerpiece in East Asian regional structure; therefore, it has difficulties to set up the direction and pace for regional integration. The nations which grip the core of the structure are China and Japan. Thus, this thesis aims to analyze the developmental problems and prospects of the East Asian integration from the competition and cooperation between China and Japan. From the perspective of Social Constructivism, we understand that the Sino-Japanese relations, on the base of past development, have been shaped into the tight interdependence and the coexistence of competition and cooperation. The relations were founded upon various mutual cognitions which were closely related to the development of East Asian history. Thus, if China and Japan resolve to exclude the negative cognitions and amplify the positive ones, the result can contribute to build the most substantial and advantageous foundation for East Asia integration.
