In the past few years, researcher has been focus on the role of inflammation in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Previous studies have shown that exercise might provide the protective effect to against atherosclerosis and insulin resistance. Therefore, the cytokines concentration and the inflammation index have been thought to be the important factor to predict cardiovascular diseases. In addition, moderate exercise may increase anti-inflammation cytokines concentration and may reduce pro-inflammation cytokines concentration. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise before a high fat meal on cytokines concentrations and gene expression. Eight young male college students participated in this study. Subjects completed 2 experimental trials which were exercise trial (EX) and rest trial (RE). Subjects were asked to consume 75g glucose 30 min before either rest for 1 hour or exercise at 60%VO2max for 1 hour. Thereafter, subjects were asked to ingest oral fat tolerance meal (1.2 g/kg fat,1.1g /kg carbohydrate , and 0.33g/kg protein). Blood samples were collected for observing plasma CRP、TNF-α、IL-1α、IL-6、IL-8、IL-10 proteins and peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) mRNA during 6h postprandial period. After high fat meal, plasma CRP and IL-6 concentrations were significantly lower in EX. However, there were no significant difference in TNF-α, IL-1α, IL-8, the IL-10 protein and mRNA concentrations between trials. The current results suggested that exercise before the high fat meal did not alter cytokine concentrations. Ching-Lin Wu 巫錦霖 2010 學位論文 ; thesis 68 zh-TW
