Summary: | 碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 統計學研究所 === 98 === Species abundance distribution varies with time, climate, etc.
Some ecological indices such as Shannon index for measuring the alpha diversity and some similarity indices
for measuring the beta diversity can facilitate monitoring these changes.
The present paper reviews a great number of statistical methods with regard to alpha diversity and beta diversity indices in the literature,
including Shannon index, shared species and some similarity indices in two assemblages. To test the performance of these estimators,
we carry out a simulation study using three tropical forest plots to be the sampling populations.
Moreover, the performance of the considered estimators based on data sampling with replacement and without replacement is also presented.
Based on our limited study,
all diversity indices give similar results regardless of data sampled with or without replacement from the sampling population.
