Revision on tribe Copiphorini (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae: Conocephalinae) from Taiwan

碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 昆蟲學系所 === 98 === The tribe Copiphorini belongs to the subfamily Conocephalinae (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae). It is easily distinguished from the others of tettigoniid by markedly slanting head shape. This study is a revision work on the tribe Copiphorini Karny, 1912 from Taiwan. Totally 120 specimens were collected in Taiwan from October 2008 to March 2010. In addition, specimens from the collection of department of Entomology, National Chung Hsing University and National Museum of Natural Science were used for this study. There are 5genera and 6 species found from Taiwan are identified, including Euconocephalus nasutus (Thunberg, 1815), Euconocephalus pallidus (Redtenbacher, 1891), Ruspolia lineosa (Walker, 1869), Xestophrys horvathi Bolivar, 1905, Pyrgocorypha formosana Matsumura & Shiraki 1908, and Pseudorhynchus gigas Redtenbacher, 1891. Taxonomic characters defined and evaluated for this study is the morphological characters. Both genus Euconocephalus and Ruspolia are relatively longer and slender that different from genus Xestophrys, Pyrgocorypha and Pseudorhynchus which are relatively stouter and robuster. The shape and size of fastigium and stridulatory file on left tegmen are the most useful characters in the determination of species.
