Description
Summary:碩士 === 明新科技大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 98 === Corporations in Europe, the USA and many other countries are increasingly highlighting their CSR credentials through paper or web-based reporting of environmental, social and sustainability performance (Cooper & Owen 2007). Many international public accounting firms have also established a sustainability division to provide accounting services to clients seeking to undertake CSR reporting, and many government departments and business groups have developed ‘best practice’ manuals on sustainability reporting. Thus, CSR is now a significant part of the mainstream corporate environment. However, CSR disclosure, which has occupied much of the CSR research in the accounting field. The aim of this paper is to consider the association between corporate social responsibility (CSR), and corporate financial performance (CFP), an area that is underresearched in the accounting and finance literatures. Despite these developments, the linkages between CSR and financial performance are still far from clear (Ullman. 1985). Results of empirical work indicate an ambiguous relationship (ex.Alexander & Buchholz, 1982;Carroll & Hatfield, 1985;Ullman, 1985;Shane & Spicer, 1983). Further, even when a positive link is established (ex. Wokutch & Spencer, 1987; Schneeweiss & Sundgren, 1988). It is still unclear whether financially successful companies simply have more resources to spend on CSR and therefore attain a higher standard or whether better performance along various dimensions of CSR itself results in better financial outcomes (McGuire, 1988;Ullman, 1985). In empirical research,Our study using KLD Social index of corporate social responsibility, and we test whether there is a positive relationship between CSR and financial performance and support both slack resource and good management theory。
