Description
Summary:碩士 === 明新科技大學 === 企業管理研究所 === 98 === Due to the constant changes of the educational environment, the impacts of a lower birth rate and a more liberal government policy, the academic market is more competitive. For a private high school to work out a competitive strategy that ensures continuing development, taking advantage of the acquired resources, capabilities and core competence, is an imminent issue. Therefore, this study tries to explore the sustained competitive advantages of a private high school in Taiwan on the basis of a resource-based view, VRIO Framework, TOWS matrix and Michael Porter's five forces model. An individual depth interview method is adopted to examine the competitive strategies of the private high schools. A case study on private high school C is also presented. The result indicates that the key factors that contribute to the parental selection of a school are school resources, college enrollment rate, reputation, philosophy, commuting distance, and campus safety. Moreover, applying Michael Porter's five forces model, the study concludes that more threats are posed with barriers to entry, suppliers and buyers than with rivalry and substitutes. Furthermore, the analysis with a resource-based view and VRIO Framework suggests that in this case, the subject school C takes the local leading status by: first, featuring character education, core values and cultural heritage; second, developing a school administrative system with the help of cloud technology; third, building a barrier of entry to the rivals with resources of high value added. The research hopes to offer possible guidance for private high schools to design a competitive strategy.
