碩士 === 明新科技大學 === 工業工程與管理研究所 === 98 === The Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display (TFT-LCD) manufacturing, which follows the footstep of semiconductor industry, has become an important developing sector in Taiwan. The features of small & medium size TFT-LCD include high customization (tailor-made), high technical barriers, and short end-product life cycle with large volume demand. Those related manufacturers are confronted with competition in price and technical capability. Furthermore, the financial crisis has made the global economy slump and reduced the demand of electronic products. To analyze the operating efficiency of local small & medium size TFT-LCD manufacturers and improve their competitive advantage is the most important issue in the downturn period .This research utilized DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) to analyze the performances of local top five small & medium size TFT-LCD manufacturers, includes AUO, TPO, Innolux, PVI and Wintek. In this research, the adopted performance measures are overall technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency and Malmquist productivity index. s Then BCG(Boston Consulting Group; BCG) matrix were used to identify the scale efficiency of each company’s position. The results indicate that in order to keep a relative gained profit, it’s necessary to reduce production costs and to maintain a better production scale. Finally the study also shows that the AUO performs better than the others.That is the other four companies can have benchmark on the related strategies of AUO.
