Its major characteristics of low power consumption and two-way transmission can be applied in the home automation and smart energy in our life. These applications are most used in the indoor environment. To converge the Zigbee sensor nodes in the indoor positioning, can complement the Global Positioning System (GPS) and cellular networks for their positioning capabilities are limited in indoor environments. The ZigBee estimates locations according to the received signal strength indicator (RSSI). The kind of RSSI-based locating method will influence the accurate position due to the environment and distance variations. This research proposes a locating scheme based on the path loss model with an adaptive propagation factor from the nearest reference node to reduce the positioning error. Eventually, we design and provide a LBS application to simulate a shopping street for the ZigBee location system, and evaluate the performance and availability.
