Description
Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 經濟學系碩士班 === 98 === The development and the rank of Taiwan''s semiconductor industry are one of the world .However, under the opening environment of economic and trade relations between Taiwan and China, how to remain competitive in the Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and keep developing, Taiwan needs to keep improving its production efficiency. Thus, in this study the researcher attempts to explore the issue of Comparison of the productivity of the semiconductor industry in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This study used the database from Taiwan Economic Journal (TEJ) and obtained the panel data of 205Taiwan, 27Hong Kong and 32China semiconductor industry companies between 2005 and 2008. The Three-stage DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) approach by Huang et al. (2008) was also employed to estimate semiconductor industry companies’ production efficiency. The model takes into account the influences the exogenous variables may have on the variables and hence should be able to provide a more accurate assessment of the production efficiency of the semiconductor industry companies examined in this study. The researcher also compared the differences in production efficiency before and after making the adjustment to the exogenous variables. The finding has important policy implication to improve technical efficiency for Semiconductor producers in Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China.
