Description
Summary:碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 經濟學系碩士班 === 98 === Taiwan is a country limited to an island which is very dependable on foreign trade. For the past researches, most of the scholars emphasized on the importance of export but neglected the importance of import. However, importers have played a critical role in the economic developments for Taiwan. In this research paper, we included firms that are engaged in all forms of foreign trades in order to fully explore how the foreign trading activities can affects the firm’s productivity. We also focused on the decision factors and productive effectiveness for exporting behavior in Taiwan public trade manufactures from 1992-2000. Blinder-Oaxaca Decomposition model was used to test the theory. The empirical results find that the productivity for manufactures which are engaging in foreign trade has higher production level than those who are not engaging in foreign trade. The result confirms that both export and import behavior could increase productivity for manufactures.
