Children’s independent mobility to school in Taiwanese Satellite towns-a study of Tai-Shan Elementary school

碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 建築與都市防災研究所 === 98 === The aims of this paper want to investigate the degree of children’s independent mobility to school and the factors of it in Taiwanese satellite towns. This study examined 173 participant families from the Tai-Shan elementary school in Tai-Shan Township, Taipei County. From the results, researcher found that mean distance to school of children is 393.39 meter and percentage of independent mobility of them is 36.52%. The ages of children, the choice of vehicles to school, numbers of cross roads in home-school journey and the cram school are main factors that affect the level of Children’s independent mobility to school. Otherwise, the attitude of close to neighborhood and sense of community of parents also affect the degree of children’s independent mobility in their home-school journey.
