Around 80% construction cases are required to work through the procurement contracting to obtain the necessary construction resources. Therefore, the operator has always known that the improvement of the procurement can directly improve the income. However, when face the constant change from the indefinite factors of supply, contests, necessity, and so on in the construction market. The procurement operations should not be to reduce the price by pressuring contractors in order to save the cost. More construction firms obey the strategies of companies. They develop the procurement operations toward the procurement strategies gradually so that they can adjust the procurement resources elastically and develop the procurement strategies. They also can reduce the indefinite factors of construction cases and promote contestable superiority of companies.
In reality of construction procurement, procurement strategies such as centralizing or dispersing of sources and procurement, building relation with construction contractors, and so on are used through the procurement operations. However, systematic procurement strategies are lacked to plan and execute. Having this in mind, this article is directed at probing the contents and use of procurement strategies about construction industries. Questionnaires are used to investigate and clear the relatives between procurement capabilities and procurement strategies in different operating categories. It is intended to supply consultations for construction industries when using procurement strategies. The important discoveries from the research are as follows. (1)The procuring capability and strategies in construction firms are in direct proportion. The more procuring capabilities in constructional they have, the more use of procuring strategies they value. (2) Among the procuring capability in construction firms, the abilities of procuring staffs affect the use of cost strategies among the procuring strategies the most (3) Construction firms are confident of use of interpersonal relation abilities in procuring capability. (4) Construction firms value the cost strategies in procuring strategies. (5) Different grades of construction firms are not obvious different in the use of the procuring capability and strategies.
