The purpose is to increase the capacity usage of backlight module and enhance the brightness of modules to economize the R & D cost. In order to increase the luminance of the backlight modules, delicate grinding procedure, ultra accurate cutting and shaping machines, and mirror polishing technology are used on male mode; etching screening is used on female mode to make light guide plate. We assemble them into large, medium, and small modules to analyze the optics issues. The commonly used out light surface mode combined with the reflect surface of light guide plate made by of etching screening is used to compare to the average luminance of backlight modules. The out light surface was changed to V-cut, processed by grinding procedure. The light guide plates are classified into low, medium, and high level by the roughness of out light surface. In the procedure of grinding, different grindstone was used and Taguchi Quality Engineering was applied on our experiment to avoid time wasting. We obtained the optimum parameters from the analysis of Taguchi Quality Engineering. The experiment was verified by the optimum combination of parameters to analyze the effects of each parameter on the roughness of surface. The evaluation of the finished light guide plate includes the shape of surface and optical measurement.
