There were two different backup stucco size combination﹔one group for stucco of thin grain called F(60S of backup) series (F-60S, F-35S, F-22S), another stucco of thick grain called C (35S of backup) series (C-35S, C-22S), and for layers combination both F series and C series had 3L, 4L, 5L and 6L combination. As for the effects of the additive on the ceramic shell mold, the MOR-green strength (pre-dewax), green strength (post-dewax), hot strength, fired strength, high temperature permeability, porosity and drying time were studied. Then, the actual metal pouring experiment was practiced and solidification simulation software was applied for the analysis of the heat transfer behavior. The results showed, for the backup of stucco size both the combination of F-60S and C-35S had the better properties of ceramic shell mold. On the backup layers, the C-35S combination had the superior properties of ceramic shell mold, but F-60S combination had high temperature permeability. On the heat transfer behavior of the ceramic shell mold, combination of C series had the better heat transfer behavior of ceramic shell mold, and the simulation results showed a good agreement. When C series 3L combination was applied, the strength of ceramic shell mold could take the impact of the high temperature molten metal of 304 stainless steel and A356 aluminum alloy.
